Hi everyone, I’m Roz and I’m a guide dog puppy from Guide Dogs for the Blind. I was born in San Rafael, CA and I will be living in Utah with my puppy raising family. I will be staying with Scott, Jeanette and Mitch. I will also be sharing the house with two other dogs named Cruiser and Sharla and a cat named Rocky.

Every day, I am learning lessons and having new experiences that will teach me about becoming a guide dog. I thought that I would pass my experiences and what I have learned to other dogs to help them learn too.

Go To Bed

Today I learned how to go to bed. I'm not sure what I've been doing every night since I was born, but this is the way that you are suppose to do it. Scott just wants me to do it a little quicker.

Outside

Today I got to play outside in the backyard and I learned a lot more things that I shouldn't chew so it is time to update the list.

     More things I shouldn't chew:
  • Cruiser
  • Flower pots
  • Compost Bin
  • The Fence
  • Weeds
  • Garden Beds
  • Cruiser
  • Rake
  • Garden Hose
That's about all I remember right now but now that I'm inside, I'm going to go chew on Cruiser.

The Vet

I have learned that if you sleep through your vet visit, the poking and prodding isn't so bad.

That's Enough

Today I learned that "that's enough" means that whatever I am doing needs to stop and needs to stop right now. It also means that I should never do it again and probably apologize for doing it in the past.

Beauty Treatments

Today I learned that I really like beauty treatments.

Jeanette gave me a pedi, pedi. I got to have my ears cleaned with something that smelled like flowers. I'm going to call it ear perfume. I also got to have my teeth brushed with chicken paste.

I feel like a brand new puppy.

Toys

Tip of the day: Make sure you pick a family that has raised a few guide dog puppies. That way when you get to your new home you have PLENTY of toys waiting for you. I have toys everywhere and still have a few left over to share with Doc.

Good Bye Sharla

Today I learned to say good bye.

Sharla left today to go to Guide Dog University. I miss her already. She was the best sister and playmate. She would tug with me and check on me and kept me safe when I got too close to the wall. I know that she will be a great guide but with the way that she watched over me, I'm hoping she becomes a mommy instead.

The Water Dish

I found out that the water in our water fountain is pretty good but the taste improves when I stick my paw in it. Oddly enough, it doesn’t taste good at all with two paws in it.

  • Leash
  • Tie down
  • Toes
  • Computers
  • Toes
  • Mitch
  • Carpet
  • Toes

  • Cruiser
  • Beds, Dog and Human
  • And of course, TOES

I'm noisy

Today I learned that no matter how cute I am and how cute I sound, howling gets you nowhere.

Arrival Day

One of the first things that I learned while I was still at campus was that I was going to be living in Utah. I wasn’t going to go alone either, I would be traveling with my brother Roamer and another dog named Seamus. Utah is long way away from San Rafael and I thought it would take forever to get there. But fortunately for us, we had a plane and good company to help us pass the time.

Once we landed in Salt Lake, we were met by a whole group of people and that is when I met Scott, Jeanette and Mitch. Sharla, who is also a guide dog puppy, was there too. I wanted to play with her but she had her working jacket on and couldn’t play. They took me to my new home in Eagle Mountain and I got to meet the rest of the family. There was my new big brother Cruiser and a cat named Rocky. Then I got to have a nice dinner, played with Sharla and Cruiser and went upstairs to my room to go to bed.
